Thanks, Brian. I think it's better to put a link to the whole site on my Links page and say it includes your solar pictures.

I managed to bin scan the sunspots at today's 2nd attempt but it was still too cloudy to snap the solar disc, so I just drew them.

Nice filament from yesterday and a sunspot drawing from today:

I only managed a few quick snaps between the clouds but there were lots of prominences and faculae all over the Sun, not to mention the odd filament:

I saw a couple of faint sunspots through the bins at lunchtime but didn't get anything with the PST as it kept clouding over.

The sunspots are about to rotate off. I managed a couple of shots through the cloud gaps but that was all. The full disc shot shows a facula I missed visually and another shot shows the prominence. I really needed a better focus for the prominence but its shape is unmistakable.

Here's the observations: http://philippugh.fortunecity.com/Latest_Observations.html

The attached file in the prominence.

At least from here, it doesn't appear as if it will clear enough to take any photos but there's a new sunspot today. At least it's something for people without narrowband instruments to look at. I've attached a drawing.

There's a nice proninence showing on the left limb of the Sun, as seen through my PST and a few faculae. Big Bear has been showing some faint sunspots but they're not visible in my binoculars.

I processed the shots earlier. The left hand side of the Sun (as seen through the PST) looks rather interesting, although the right hand side was rather bland.

Very quiet today, with just a small prom.

There was a small prom visible about half an hour ago and a nice philament. Otherwise, it was rather quiet, at least as viewed through a PST.

There ARE spots on the Sun ... NOAA don't seem to be bestowing this active area with an official number but I've managed to image the spot two days running. Here's today's effort.

One tiny spot and at least three pores. Note the "rice grain" granulation, these convection cells are approx. 500 miles across - around 1 arc second as viewd from here.

2010 Mar 08, 1033 UT. 110 mm fluorite triplet apochromat (William Optics), Baader solar film & solar continuum filter, 4x Imagemate (giving f/28), Imaging Source DMK21 camera.

I saw some the last few days on Big Bear but they were below the resolution of my bins. I didn't notice any on Big Bear today, so well spotted!

I'm just doing my PST images and found 2 smaller proms and another philament (sic).

Big Bear showing large sunspot in centre, towards southern limb and emerging ones to the east. Nice philaments on the eastern limb.

Let's hope it clears.

Not 100% could cover here, so probable chance of seeing the sunspots. Less optimistic about using the PST, though.

Looks nice in the Big Bear images. Work has been manic today and there's a lot of cloud. Hope to catch it later.
